Introverse is finally here!
Introverse (formerly EIBG), our connection card game, is now available for purchase!
tl;dr - We finished our game! Get your copy here.
We finally finished our first card game, and what a ride it’s been. Over 16 months in the making, we’ve spent hundreds of hours creating, playtesting and editing to create the best connection card game ever made.
Introverse is a party game for introverts. It's perfect for a rainy day with your friends, for your family reunion, or team building with people you've just met! Don't know what to do on your next date night? Play Introverse.
We’ve done a small initial print run of 100 copies, and they are currently available for purchase for $30 + shipping.
In case we haven’t spoken in a while: Introverse (formerly known as EIBG/Emotional Intelligence Board Game) is a connection card game for 2-6 players. Choose one of the six archetypes of the Introverse and play through three levels of questions, discussions, meditations, rituals, and competitions. The games and prompts in Introverse are collected from our travels and experiences in various events, co-living spaces, and intentional communities.
Journey to the Introverse
In April 2023, Lucy tagged along with jmill to a Magic: The Gathering night on a cool evening in Brooklyn, NY. While there, she was amazed at how cards with colors, symbols, and systems could hold people's attention on the game so intently. Lucy was always a fan of connection card games such as Authentic Relating or School of Life’s games, and on that night she had an idea. Perhaps these games could hold a wider appeal if they had symbols, colors, artwork, and strategy. Maybe introducing a gameplay system could help people focus for longer on the genuine connection opportunities these games provide. This sparked the initial design for Introverse. Within a few short weeks, the first version of the game was designed and brought to life at Buildspace IRL 2023.
Over the coming months, we worked on the game together—tightening the gameplay systems, nailing down the gameplay loop, and making the game prompts more fun, diverse, and creative. In August 2023, we finished v2 of the game, ran a Kickstarter that didn’t quite make it, and debuted at Play NYC 2023.
On and off, we continued working on the game through 2023 and into 2024. We ran many amazing playtests with our wonderful friends and got a wealth of ideas for how to make the game even better.
Finally, in August 2024, we decided to make the final push. We had been tinkering for long enough, and we had collected so much feedback by this point. It was time to stop changing the game, stop printing new playtest versions, and make that push to get the real thing made. After one last intense editing sprint, we took the plunge and clicked the order button. 100 copies made; this is it. Introverse is alive.
What’s Next?
This is only the beginning chapter for Introverse! We’ve got big plans that include a bigger print run, an official manga hand-drawn by Lucy, and maybe future games taking place in the Introverse. 🤫
BCAD headed to Edge Lanna in October, and we’re hoping to play the game with every single person there. We want this game to help introverts (and extroverts) the world over build a deeper connection with the people in their lives.
We hope you’ll experience our game with the awesome people in your life! Copies are available now.
Thanks for supporting us as always. Love, BCAD.
